Girona Campsite Association and C.V. de Girona was born on April 14, 1977 in Plaça Poeta Marquina nº 5 in Girona and the first President was Mr. Luis Roqué Guisset. This Association was created with the objectives of representing, defending, managing and promoting the common business interests of its members. Later on, it joined the Catalan Federation of Campsites and the Spanish Federation of Campsite Businessmen in order to defend the interests of the Girona area at a national and state level.
The first direct board was formed by Mr. Josep Lumbreras Mercader, Sr. Ramon Mestres Fullà, Sr. Josep Maria Lafuente Pallàs, Sr. Joan Farré Rius, Sr. Joaquim Vilahur Espígol, Sr. Leonci Cardoner Sala, Sr. Josep Ametller Gelabert, Sr. Manuel Clarà Massish, Sr. Jaume Veiret Blanch, Sr. Ricard Turón Turón.
After the first stage of the association, Mr. took the helm as President. Josep Serra and later Mr. Jaume Genover, who chaired the boards of directors that passed through his term of office for 22 years. It was also during this period that the official headquarters of the Association moved to Palamós. In the last stage of his term, he moved the Association back to the capital of the province, where it has its current headquarters in C / Bonastruc de Porta 15 in Girona.
In September 2009 the fourth President, Mr. Josep Maria Pla i Calsina, who professionalized the entity with a technical team. After his 4 years in office, he decided to take a step back and leave the presidency. In September 2013, Mr. Miquel Gotanegra i Portell was the 5th President of the entity and in September 2017 he was unanimously re-elected by the Ordinary Assembly of Associates.
It was on October 6, 2014 when Mr. Miquel Gotanegra i Portell was elected President of the Catalan Camping Federation and since that date, the management of this entity has been carried out from the offices of the Girona Camping Association.
Today, the Association is an entity that includes 73 associated campsites and represents more than 120,000 tourist beds in the province of Girona. This makes it the most important member of the Federación Catalana de Càmpings, and it represents some 25% of all the campsites in Spain. The work of the Association currently centres on offering advice to its associates at all levels, their promotion and international profile, continuous training and academic education in collaboration with the Faculties of Tourism in the Universities of Girona and Barcelona, and a constant presence within the senior institutional organs in order to defend its shared interests in these administrations.
These tasks are carried out by a team of 3 people who work full-time for the Association in close collaboration with the new Board of Directors. The current Board of Directors, presided by Mr. Miquel Gotanegra i Portell, is made up of Mr. Josep Maria Pla, Mrs. Marina Mestres, Mr. Narcís Grau, Mr. Francesc Genover, Mr. Josep Atmetller, Mrs. Anna Banús, Mr. Toni Castellar, Mrs. Elisabet Guitart, Mr. Markus Rupp and Mr. Frederic Suñé.
