For wine lovers wishing to get a flavour of the Costa Brava through its scents and tastes
The Costa Brava is one of the world’s oldest wine regions. This has defined the area’s personality and industry. Over the years, the Empordà D.O. has carved out a niche among the world’s leading Denominations of Origin through wines that perfectly encapsulate the essence, landscapes and smells of the Costa Brava. Girona’s campsites with the Land of Wines seal of approval are found in rural villages engaged in the local D.O. Empordà wine culture and offer visitors a stay with wonderful wine-related options.
L’Empordà is the Costa Brava’s wine-growing region par excellence and an area with stunning natural beauty, marked by the typical local Tramuntana winds. The Land of Wines seal of approval identifies campsites that promote Empordà’s wine culture via local wine sales, guided tours of wineries and vineyards, tastings of D.O. Empordà wines at campsite restaurant, and much more.
D.O. Empordà currently encompasses 44 wineries of small and medium-sized local producers who make wines drawing inspiration from the charm of a stunning region.
In terms of accommodation, the Land of Wines seal can be found at five campsites: the Begur campsite, nestled in the heart of the Costa Brava near the Mas Oller winery; the Cadaqués campsite, in one of the Costa Brava’s prettiest villages and next to the Martí Faixó winery boasting vineyards with spectacular sea views; the Port de la Selva campsite, near the majestic monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes and the Mas Oller winery; and lastly the Jonca Mar campsite in Roses, which offers local wine tasting all year round.
