We suggest that you visit some of the following 22 destinations, all of which are perfect for spending a few days practising mountain activities, enjoying the best hillwalking trails and doing adventure sports such as climbing, paintball, skiing or snowboarding in the winter resorts of La Masella, La Molina, Vallter 2000, Vall de Núria or practising Nordic skiing at Guils Fontanera.
The campsite in the village of Albanyà, Camping Bassegoda Park, is a perfect place to observe the stars from its Astronomical Observatory, or to go on excursions in the Espai d’ Interès Natural de l’ Alta Garrotxa, but also to explore a range of routes across the Pyrenees of Girona such as following the GR-92 or the well-known Camí de Ronda, which runs along the whole Costa Brava from Lloret de Mar to Portbou. The ideal campsites for those following this route: in Roses there is Camping Salatà and Ciutat de Vacances Cala Montjoi, in Cadaqués, Camping Cadaqués; in Port de la Selva, Camping Port de La Vall; in the village of Colera, there is Camping Sant Miquel, all of which are inside the Nature Park of Cap de Creus. The last three are also perfect for following route GR-11.
In Tossa de Mar, we find Camping Cala Llevadó, located in the Massís de Cadiretes Natural Area. The campsites of L’ Escala, Camping Illa Mateua and Camping Punta Milà, are both located inside the Nature Park of Montgrí, Illes Medes and Baix Ter and offer guided visits and excursions. This is also true of Camping Playa Brava in Pals, which is in the same park as the previous two campsites. In Calonge, Camping Treumal is on the GR-92 hillwalking trail and offers guided routes along the trail, mountain bikes and activities.
There are another three campsites in Castelló d’ Empúries: Camping Castell Mar, Camping Laguna and finally Càmping Nàutic Almata, which are all located within the Nature Park of Aiguamolls de l’ Empordà, which are wetlands ideal for long walks and for birdwatching.
Alongside the river Fluvià, Càmping Riu in Sant Pere Pescador is the ideal place for outings in kayaks or for sailing in small boats. Càmping l’Àmfora is on the sea and within the Nature park of Aiguamolls de l’ Empordà while Càmping Esponellà is in the village of the same name. Both of these campsites will hire out kayaks for you to have fun with family and friends.
There are two more campsites in L’ Estartit. Both are located inside the Nature Park of Montgrí, the Medes Islands and the Baix Ter. They are Càmping Castell Montgrí and Càmping Les Medes,, which both offer guided visits.
In Calella de Palafrugell, between the coastal paths, is Camping La Siesta, which has mountain bike and walking trails through the natural spaces that surround the campsite, and a few kilometres away is Càmping Mas Patoxas, near the medieval village of Pals.
Somewhat more inland, we find the town of Olot, and with it, Camping La Fageda, which is located in the Volcanic Natural Park of La Garrotxa, and which offers hill-walking guides as well as bicycle excursions. Finally, Càmping Lava is an ideal place for the most eco-friendly campers in Santa Pau (near Olot). It is a perfect place to spend a few days with children because the campsite has guided tours on horseback, in tourist trains and visits to petting farms where even the youngest children can play and learn with the animals.
