The Costa Brava is home to over 200 km of beautiful beaches and coves with turquoise waters, surrounded by stunning natural scenery. However, when travelling with a dog, you’ll only be able to access some of the regulated beaches, which permit dog access.
Inspira’t has all the information! The beaches are the following:
The Greenways are a marvellous option for exploring the Costa Brava and the Pyrenees, with their easy-to-access paths at one with nature. Greenways are dotted around the Girona region and if you’re up for a challenge, intrepid explorers can travel from one end of the province to another via the trails that link together.
The Greenways are perfect to do on foot or by bicycle, and if you’d like to explore with your dog, there are wonderful hiking trails to discover the exceptional local area.
Remember to use a lead when hiking with your dog along these paths, to avoid accidents with other Girona Greenway users.
Another wonderful activity to do with dogs in the Girona region involves exploring the natural environment of the Banyoles lake by hiking all the way around the lake. While strolling along the path next to the water, enjoy the stunning landscape and admire the lake from the numerous walkways dotted around the shore.
But that’s not all. Your faithful four-legged friend, not only able to enjoy a pleasant walk in the open air, can also play in a special dogs park near the lake. There, your pet dog will be able to run freely and play with other dogs.
Whether you visit in the morning or afternoon, Inspira’t highly recommends a trip to the Banyoles Lake to enjoy its stunning scenery.
While a more urban, less athletic activity for your pet, exploring the Costa Brava’s most iconic towns with your dog can be an extremely rewarding day out.
You’ll be able to visit the region’s most charming villages, including the Medieval Villages of Baix Empordà – Peratallada, Madremanya, Monells, Púbol, Corçà, etc. – or other iconic towns such as Tossa de Mar, Llançà, Calella de Palafrugell, Empuriabrava, Cadaqués, etc.
Give in to the Costa Brava’s magic, and if you fancy a visit to inland or mountain villages, why not travel to the Pyrenees and discover further charming spots such as Besalú, Beget, Santa Pau, Castellfollit de la Roca and many more!
Finally, as mentioned above, the Costa Brava and the Pyrenees is home to campsites with the Pet Friendly seal, indicating that pets are allowed to stay overnight, and special services for dogs are available.
Pet Friendly campsites also offer special restaurant menus for dogs in stunning settings, where campers can hike and enjoy fantastic days at one with nature.
