Dog-friendly beaches on the Costa Brava

Are you looking for a dog-friendly beach on the Costa Brava? We at Càmpings de Girona will tell you where the best beaches for dogs are on the Costa Brava, so that you can have a wonderful time with your faithful four-legged companion.

If you are thinking of going on holiday to the Costa Brava with your pet, but are afraid of not finding beaches that permit dogs, stop worrying!

On the Costa Brava you will find 6 fantastic beaches to cool off, sunbathe, run and relax with your dog. In addition, some of these beaches offer services such as showers, toilets, bars, among others, and also those for your canine friends, such as excrement facilities and showers to clean off the sand after a day of fun and rollovers.

Rubina Beach – Castelló d’Empúries:

Tucked halfway between Empuriabrava and Roses is the first beach in Spain to admit dogs. This landmark was admired by many coastal municipalities across the country and has already been reproduced on several beaches for its smooth operation.

Rubina Beach, also known by locals as the Wild Beach, for being one of the few beaches in the area that has not been developed and that preserves the sand dunes and native vegetation. Also, it is the only beach that allows the practice of kite surfing and the entry of pets

The space that allows you to enjoy the beach with dogs is set aside in a part of the beach to avoid disturbing bathers who are not accompanied by pets. If you like it, we must say that you can enjoy this beach at any time of the year, always respecting the environment, and keeping the beach excrement-free.

Undoubtedly this is one of the best beaches on the Costa Brava to enjoy the sea with your dog, in a carefree and exceptional setting.

Rec del Molí beach – L’Escala

Located between L’Escala and Empúries you can find another beach ideal for a good dip and playing in the sand with your dog. The beach of the Rec del Molí, is located within the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà Natural Park, which limits the freedom of movement of dogs on this beach.

First of all, the area accessible to dogs is a part of the beach marked by poles. On the other hand, on this beach, dogs must be leashed at all times to preserve the flora and fauna that live in the area.

Despite having more restrictive regulations than other beaches, we recommend a visit, due to the uniqueness and natural beauty of the surroundings.

Port de la Vall Beach and Ribera Beach – Port de la Selva

In the northern Costa Brava, you will also find magnificent beaches for dogs: Port de la Vall Beach and La Ribera Beach are two examples. The two are located in Port de la Selva, and apart from giving you an amazing day at the beach, you and your pet can enjoy the magnificent surroundings of the Cap de Creus Natural Park

Port de la Vall beach is located at the northern end of Port de la Selva, near a small Mediterranean pine grove that gives this beach a wild air of freedom. The part accessible to dogs is located at one end of the beach, leaving a space reserved for bathers. If you want to spend a day at the beach, surrounded by nature and with your furry friend, this beach is for you!

On the other hand, Port de la Ribera Beach also has an area for dogs, and despite not having services on the same beach, its proximity to the village offers all kinds of services and tourist establishments.

Sant Jordi Beach – Llançà

A little further north, in Llançà you will find another beach for dogs: Sant Jordi Beach. This is a small cove with no services for bathers, however, the low occupancy makes it an ideal beach to spend a nice beach day with your dog.

Les Barques Beach – Colera

Finally, in Colera, you will find another beach accessible to dogs: Platja de les Barques. This is a quiet and adapted beach with a canine area to enjoy the sea with our four-legged friends.

You will see that the dog-friendly area is next to the fishing port and very close to the village, ideal for walking and having an ice cream after a good swim.
