Additionally, the Christmas lights decorating the city are inspired by the art of Salvador Dalí, giving it a surreal and unique touch.

  • The Figueres Christmas market is held at Plaça de la Palmera, from November 29 to December 24, where you can find handmade products, traditional sweets, and original gifts. Concerts and activities for all audiences are also organized.
  • If you love art, you can’t miss the Dalí Museum, which during the holidays often offers special activities.
  • A walk along the Rambla will let you discover the most spectacular light displays, with surrealistic shapes and Dalinian-inspired figures.

Figueres is one of the cities that celebrates the Three Kings Parade with the most excitement. On January 5, Their Majesties arrive in Figueres with a spectacular tour of the city, with over 300 participants. One of the special features of the Figueres parade is its sensory area, which allows people with disabilities to enjoy the event in an adapted environment, with fewer lights and sounds.

3. Girona

Girona, the capital of the province, is one of the most beautiful cities during Christmas. Its medieval streets in the Old Quarter turn into a labyrinth of lights and colors, creating a unique atmosphere.

What to do in Girona for Christmas?

  • The Christmas Fair in Plaça Independència is the perfect place to taste the typical local products, like turrón and artisanal cured meats, and take advantage of buying Christmas decorations. Its opening hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and it’s open until January 5 (it’s closed on December 25, 26, and January 1).
  • At the Cathedral, just 5 minutes from Plaça Independència, you can visit a traditional nativity scene and a nativity exhibition, a tradition that is part of Christmas in the city.
  • Another major attraction is the ice skating rink located at Palau Firal, where both children and adults can enjoy skating. Open from December 20 to January 4, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • And you can’t leave without walking across the bridges over the Onyar River, which give you spectacular views of the city, especially when they are decorated with thousands of lights.

And if you want one last surprise to close Christmas, on January 5, the Three Kings come to the capital, in a parade that takes place entirely on foot. This allows both children and adults to interact directly with Their Majesties and their attendants. Furthermore, 16,000 chocolate coins will be distributed, courtesy of the pastry chef Jordi Roca, making the night even sweeter.

4. Arbúcies
